Follow these spring tips for your home to get it in its best shape possible for the rain and warm weather.
Spring Tips for Your Home
Clean out the guttersGutters are often overlooked but doing so can cause some major problems down the road as we enter the rainy season. Clogged gutters can cause foundation damage, rotted wood, and flooding, just to name a few issues. To avoid those problems, take an afternoon to clean out the debris or hire a professional to do it for you. It will save you a lot of money and headache in the long run.
Pull out the weeds and plant new flowersGo through your flower beds, lawn, and patio (where they may be sprouting through the grout) and get rid of any weeds you see. As the temperature warms and plant life starts growing back, so will weeds.
Once they’re cleared out, freshen up your landscaping with some beautiful new flowers. If you aren’t into planting flowers, some colorful flowers in nice pots will have the same effect and can be moved around as you see fit.
Trim the trees and bushesPrune your trees and bushes to get them ready to bloom in the spring. It’s also a good time to make sure they aren’t blocking any windows or pathways to allow in better light and traffic flow.
Freshen up your curb appealSpring is a great time to give the rest of your curb appeal a facelift, too. Give your front door a fresh coat of paint (maybe in a new color), refurbish your mailbox and the area around it, make sure your house numbers are in good shape, and check for cracks in the driveway and path leading up to the front door.
Fertilize the lawnLastly, feed the lawn with fertilizer to give it a boost and prepare it for the warmer weather to come. This will help get the grass ready to be as green and full as possible for the rest of the year.
