Your entryway is the first impression anyone will get of the inside of your home. Make sure it's a good one with these easy entryway staging tips!Everyone knows that you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. In your home, the entryway is your opportunity to make a great one, so it’s important to get it right.

Too often, the entryway or foyer is an afterthought for homeowners. In fact, many people decide not to decorate it at all, or they place something there that has no real style or visual impact, such as a random coat rack. Not putting any effort into how your entryway looks is a missed opportunity to start the reception of your home off on the right foot.

When you’re staging a home for sale, the entryway is especially important to pay attention to because it’s the first thing buyers will see when they step inside. The decorating tips in this post are also great home staging tips for the entryway; just keep in mind our tips for home staging décor and accent colors for home staging when applying them for that purpose.

Entryway Decorating Tips

Lighting

A great light fixture is a quick and easy way to give your entryway some style. If you want to bring some glamour, for example, an elegant chandelier will do the trick. For something more dramatic, an artistic light installation will give it a unique flair. Even something simple but chic can transform the space to create a better first impression.

Mirror

Mirrors are a classic, elegant choice for entryway decor. They look great above a console table or, if you want to do something a little more dramatic, you can lean a tall mirror behind a console table or even by itself. Another great thing about mirrors is that they help visually expand a space, so small entryways always benefit from one. Dark entryways are also improved by a mirror because it will reflect light to brighten up the area.

Rug

In a large entryway, a rug will help warm up the space. Even a small entryway, though, can benefit from runner to define the space from the rest of the home. They are also a great way to bring in some color and/or pattern and texture. They instantly make your home feel more inviting.

Artwork

Artwork is one of the most effective ways to make a statement in a space. It infuses character, color, and generally makes a space feel more complete. In an entryway, it can help set the tone for the rest of the home. One large, eye-catching piece of art can be enough for a minimalist entryway. Or, it can help pull together a vignette if you hang above a console table or even lean against the wall for a more relaxed look.

Color

Nothing transforms a space quite as quickly and effectively as color. If you want to make a splash in your entryway, include an engaging pop of color in the form of an accent wall or any of the other decor pieces we mentioned in this post. You don’t need a lot of color to make a statement; one stylish accent will do the trick.
