Ready to embrace fall in your home? Here are some inspiring ways to transition your home decor into fall with just a few simple changes.Fall is just around the corner, meaning the leaves will be changing and the weather will be cooling down. Every season has a distinct look and feel to it that is exciting to experience. That’s why we love incorporating seasonal touches into our décor throughout the year. It makes each season more enjoyable because you get to experience its beauty even when you’re at home. It doesn’t take much to transition your home décor. Just a few changes can make a big difference. Here are a few easy ways to transition your home from summer to fall.

Transitioning Home Décor from Summer to Fall

Store away seasonal items

Before you get started adding fall elements to your décor, store away anything that has a distinct summer feel. If you always decorate for the seasons, then you’ll already know what you added and can put away. However, if this is your first time transitioning your décor from one season to another, go around your home and look for anything that makes you think of summer, such as items in bright colors. Carefully store those decorative accents until next summer.

Change your scents

During the fall, it’s all about rich, warm scents. You can start subtly with fragrances that have a musky undertone, then as we get further into the season start bringing in more traditional scents like pumpkin and cinnamon. Candles create a wonderful fall glow, but you can also use incense or sprays.

Switch out your textiles

One of our favorite ways to transition décor from summer to fall is to switch out or add cozy textiles, such as accent pillows, throws, bedding, and curtains. Opt for warm colors and rich textures like faux fur, knit, and flannel. On your bed, simply changing the sheets to something heavier and adding a blanket over the bottom of the bed will do the trick.

Update your vignettes

It’s a lot of fun to update your vignettes for the seasons. During the fall, rustic touches and accents from nature always capture the spirit well and add a lot of character to your décor. Branches, leaves, moss, and even seasonal fruits such as apples and pears look great as fall décor. Of course, you can’t forget to incorporate pumpkins and gourds, which you can customize with paint if you want to do something a bit more creative.

Add warm lighting

While summer is all about the sun shining bright, fall is about cozier, warmer lighting. If your home has a lot of natural light, you can dim it a bit with heavier curtains. Candles are a wonderful go-to for fall vibes, but if you can’t or don’t want to have them in your home for safety reasons, there are electric ones on the market that offer the same look and feel. It’s never too early to break out the Christmas lights, too, and wrap them around a tall (faux) house plant or drape them across a doorway, headboard, or bookshelf.

Dress up your table

Table settings are a wonderful way to make your home feel more inviting and to add some extra style to the room. Update your place settings and centerpiece with some fall accents like the ones mentioned in vignettes. Just a few rustic touches and changes in colors will bring a sense of fall to your dining room, breakfast nook, or kitchen bar.
